VPLL1912 Project

Today I want to sewing and, after my sewing teacher reminded me, I looked up the VPLL1912 Project. It is a project started by the Vintage Pattern Lending Library where they are getting people to test out patterns from the year of 1912. They are recreating all of the patterns from the issues of La Mode Journal from that year.

To join in you can sign up and, from what I understand, they will assign you to a group and are then able to download the patterns. Testers then post their experiences with the pattern (problems, alterations, preferences, ect.) to either their own blog or the project's blog.

It seems like a really cool idea. I have filled out their sign-up form and hopefully I can figure out what you are supposed to do next to get the patterns. Until then I guess I'll stick with studying for finals.

To whom it may concern...

I feel like I should write an introductory post, if for no other reason than to make myself feel like I have actually started this blog. My name is Kelly and I like sewing. After months of my sewing teacher telling me to, I have finally started a blog to record my progress in sewing. As it says in the small box on the side of the page I am a junior in high school hoping to major in fashion design when I graduate. I go to a small private school that only meets two days a week, which gives me plenty of spare time which I can spend sewing.
I like to sew mostly garments, especially dresses, with the occasional purse of plushie. My biggest achievement as of yet in my short sewing career was being chosen as a finalist in SCAD's junior competition, wild card category. I entered light blue ball gown. As I count this as my best work so far, and will hopefully be my baseline for improvement from here on out, I felt this should be the first thing I posted.
This is the most princess-y thing I have ever made.
